A Historical Novel and Feature Film Project by Andrea M. Clarke
Join us in restoring the story of Dr. John Clarke—a forgotten founder whose fight for liberty of conscience helped change the course of American history.
Dr. John Clarke (1609–1676) was a physician, Baptist minister, statesman, co-founder of Newport, Rhode Island, and one of the principal architects of liberty of conscience in America.
At a time when people were imprisoned, whipped, banished, and even executed for their religious beliefs, Clarke devoted his life to defending the principle that matters of conscience belong to the individual—not to government or religious authorities.
Yet despite helping shape the foundations of religious freedom in America, few Americans know his name today.
As John Clarke's 8th great-niece, I have spent more than fifteen years researching his life and legacy. What began as an interest in family history became a personal journey—and ultimately a calling—to bring his remarkable story to life through a historical novel and feature film - http://JohnClarkeMovie.com.
This summer, we will travel to Rhode Island and Massachusetts to visit the places where Clarke's story unfolded, meet with historians, document key locations, and gather the final pieces needed to complete the novel and feature film script for John Clarke – America's Forgotten Patriot.
