Award-Winning New Jersey Author Michael Dooling’s “George Washington’s Army and Me” Optioned for Feature Film “Elijah & George – A Revolutionary Tale”

New JerseyMetatron Productions, LLC has optioned the children’s book George Washington’s Army and Me by award-winning New Jersey author and illustrator Michael Dooling as the foundation for the feature film project Elijah & George – A Revolutionary Tale.

Metatron Productions, LLC is an independent film company developing historical and family theatrical stories rooted in American history.

Michael Dooling, a New Jersey native, is widely recognized for his work in historical children’s literature. His books have received more than fifty awards and honors and have collectively sold more than one million copies. Through richly illustrated storytelling, Dooling’s work has introduced generations of young readers to pivotal moments in American history.

The feature film project is being developed by filmmaker Andrea M. Clarke of Metatron Productions, LLC. Clarke has expanded the story into a larger historical narrative that follows the adventures of a young farm boy and his faithful dog who encounter famous figures and unsung heroes on the march from Valley Forge toward the looming Battle of Monmouth in June 1778.

The film also introduces a rarely depicted chapter of Revolutionary War history: General George Washington’s Civilian Army of two thousand women and children who accompanied and supported the soldiers on the march. These civilians—camp followers who cooked, washed clothing, cared for the wounded, and carried supplies—played an essential role in sustaining the soldiers during the campaign.

Clarke’s adaptation expands Dooling’s original work into a feature-length historical adventure intended for theatrical audiences and family viewing. As the United States approaches the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution, the filmmakers believe the story offers a timely opportunity to bring this chapter of American history to the screen.

Elijah & George – A Revolutionary Tale is currently packaged and ready to roll camera pending production financing. The production plan includes a traditional theatrical strategy featuring an initial 45-day exclusive theatrical release window prior to subsequent distribution platforms. The project has been structured as a commercially viable theatrical production and is currently being presented to potential production and financing partners.
